Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme had to leave the Panthers’ victory over the Arizona Cardinals early today when he suffered a chest injury. But after going to the hospital for a CT Scan, he said he’s fine and will play next week against the Saints.
“Oh yeah, definitely,” Delhomme said when asked if he’ll play next week, per Steve Reed of CarolinaGrowl.com. “Everything is good.”
Delhomme got hurt when Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett hit him in the third quarter. The team doctor was worried that the hit might have damaged Delhomme’s spleen, but tests at the hospital showed he’s fine.
Delhomme entered today’s game with a league-high 13 interceptions, but he took care of the ball much better today, making it through his first game of the season without throwing a pick. He finished 7-of-14 for 90 yards and one touchdown.
