Zane Gonzalez’s bid to win the Dolphins’ kicking job came to an end on Monday.
The Dolphins placed Gonzalez on injured reserve. Gonzalez suffered an undisclosed injury over the weekend and head coach Jeff Hafley called him week-to-week in a press conference on Monday morning. Gonzalez can be released once healthy enough to play.
Riley Patterson is now the only kicker on the 90-man roster in Miami.
The Dolphins also announced that they have signed defensive back Nick McCloud and waived running back Anthony Hankerson. McCloud had 27 tackles and two passes defensed in 15 games for the Bears last season. He has also played for the 49ers, Giants and Bengals in his 63-game NFL career.
