After an ugly start to this season, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye bounced back today.
Maye went to Buffalo and played very well in a hostile environment, completing 22 of 37 passes for 269 yards, with three touchdowns, plus a few big plays running the ball, as the Patriots won 29-26. Maye did throw an interception, but it wasn’t his fault, as it bounced out of receiver Romeo Doubs’ hands before the Bills got it on a lucky deflection.
The game-winning touchdown was scored by Patriots wide receiver Efton Chism, who made a sensational diving catch in the end zone with 1:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen scored another rushing touchdown, his seventh of this season, which made him the all-time leading touchdown scorer in Bills franchise history, moving him ahead of Andre Reed and Thurman Thomas. But other than that play, Allen didn’t do anything with his legs, and he didn’t make as many big plays with his arm as Bills fans are accustomed to, either.
The Bills are still in first place in the AFC East at 3-1, but the 2-2 Patriots showed today that they’ve got plenty of fight left in them.
