The Jets have been toying with the idea of dressing all three of the players listed on their roster as quarterbacks, something that’s a bit easier now that they won’t have to use a roster spot on Dustin Keller.

Keller was listed as doubtful on Friday with the ankle injury he suffered in last week’s victory over the Cardinals, but the team downgraded him to out on Saturday. Keller missed the entire week of practice and Rex Ryan all but said he wouldn’t be playing, so the only surprising thing about the decision is that the Jets didn’t just go ahead and scratch him on Friday.

Keller has also battled a hamstring injury this season that cost him four games. He has 28 catches for 317 yards and two touchdowns on the year and is set to become a free agent after the season.

Jeff Cumberland and Konrad Rueland will play expanded roles at tight end with Keller out of the game. Former Australian rugby player Hayden Smith could be active for the second time this season.
