Eagles linebacker Jonathan Greenard has not practiced yet this summer and thoughts are beginning to turn toward his availability for the regular season.
Greenard was placed on the physically unable to perform list last month because of a pec injury and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said at the time that it was unclear if he would practice at all during training camp. Fangio’s update a little over a week ago didn’t shed more light on a possible return and Wednesday brought another chance to check in on where things stand.
Fangio was asked during a press conference if he is concerned about Greenard missing the start of the regular season. Fangio said, via multiple reporters, that he does have that concern with Week 1 a little more than three weeks away.
Greenard is new to the Eagles, so the missed time on the field will likely impact how quickly he will be able to make an impact once he is given the green light to play again. Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, and Arnold Ebiketie will be among the options to fill out the edges of the defense until that happens.
