A protege of Eagles head coach Chip Kelly is the team’s new quarterbacks coach.
The Eagles have announced that Ryan Day has left his post as offensive coordinator at Boston College to accept the quarterbacks coaching job in Philadelphia.
When Kelly first became Day’s mentor, Day didn’t know the first thing about a subject as fundamental as risk management. But while Day played quarterback at the University of New Hampshire, Kelly was his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and Day became New Hampshire’s all-time leading touchdown passer. After he graduated, Day joined the New Hampshire coaching staff. From New Hampshire, Day got assistant coaching jobs at Florida and Temple before joining the Boston College staff.
In Philadelphia, Day’s job will be to coach Nick Foles. If Day can get Foles playing the way he did in 2013, Kelly will tell him, “That’s gold, Ryan! Gold!”
