The Eagles continue locking up veteran players before they can hit free agency.

Jeremy Maclin, the veteran wide receiver who has spent his entire career in Philadelphia, has agreed to terms on a new one-year contract. The team announced that the deal was done on Friday afternoon.

Maclin is coming off a 2013 season in which he didn’t play at all, thanks to a torn ACL in training camp. Maclin was insisting on a one-year deal because he’s confident enough in his recovery that he believes he’s ready for a big year in 2014, and he wants to cash in a year from now.

The Eagles’ 2009 first-round draft pick, Maclin has been a solid starter all four years he’s been healthy. If he’s back to his old form this year, a Philadelphia offense that was very good in its first year under Chip Kelly may get better.
