Eagles mad at Dunta Robinson, who says “it was a legal hit”

Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson insisted after Sunday night’s win over the Eagles that he shouldn’t have been flagged for his hit on Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin -- and he vehemently insists that the league shouldn’t discipline him.

“I felt that it was a legal hit even though I was penalized,” Robinson said. “Again, I feel strongly that there will not be any further repercussion.”

Last year Robinson became one of the poster boys for the NFL’s crackdown on hits to defenseless receivers after drilling Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson in similar fashion. The Eagles made clear that they don’t like the way Robinson plays the game.

“He’s two for two now,” Maclin said. “I guess we’ll see what Roger Goodell has in store for him.”

Jackson suggested that Robinson is a dirty player.

“I guess that’s what type of player he is,” Jackson said. “He tries to go for the kill shot and things like that. He got a flag for it, so just glad Jeremy is OK.”

It’s safe to say the league office won’t agree with Robinson’s insistence that it was a legal hit. The only question is whether he’ll get another steep fine, or whether this time he’ll be suspended.
