Before they hired Doug Pederson as their new head coach, the Eagles spoke to former Giants coach Tom Coughlin about taking the job.
They went in a different direction, obviously, but there will be at least one piece of recent Giants teams on the Eagles in 2016. The team announced Wednesday that they have signed wide receiver Rueben Randle to a one-year contract. Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports Randle will make $1.025 million with incentives that could push the total value above $3 million.
Randle, who ranked at No. 113 on PFT’s list of this year’s top free agents, was a second-round pick in 2012 and frequently showed flashes of the talent that led to that draft position. Those flashes have been mixed in among miscommunications with Eli Manning and other mental lapses, however, and Randle never took hold of the opportunities provided by Victor Cruz’s absence over the last two years.
He’ll join Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor, Josh Huff and Chris Givens in the mix for playing time at receiver in Philadelphia and will have plenty of incentive to put forth a more consistent effort while playing on a one-year deal.
