Last month, the Falcons opted not to give secondary coach Emmitt Thomas a new contract.
Today, the Chiefs have chosen to do so.
The team has announced that Thomas will join the team as defensive backs coach. The Hall of Famer played for the Chiefs from 1966 through 1978.
The Chiefs also announced that Bernie Parmalee will coach the tight ends, and that Otis Smith has been added as a defensive quality control assistant.
For Thomas, 2010 will be his 43rd year in the NFL as both a player and a coach. It will be his first season with the Chiefs in a capacity other than player.
