Falcons cornerback Jalen Collins’ second NFL season will get off to a delayed start.
The NFL announced Friday that Collins has been suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season as a result of a violation of the league’s policy on performance enhancing substances. He will be eligible to take part in offseason practices, training camp and preseason games.
“We are disappointed to hear the news regarding Jalen today,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said in a statement. “I have already spoken to Jalen about this, and I have no doubt this will be something that he will learn from.”
Collins was a second-round pick by the Falcons last year and played in all 16 games during his rookie season. He made two starts and recorded 17 tackles.
Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford top the depth chart at corner in Atlanta.
