Favre will start, take roughly 10 snaps

As if there were any doubt, now there is none.

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre will start Sunday night’s preseason game against the 49ers, five days after emerging from whatever in the hell his status was. Coach Brad Childress says that Favre will play a series or two, ideally taking 10 snaps.

“That’s about all he needs right now and all he’s ready for right now,” Childress said.

Last year, Favre showed up only three days before the Week 2 preseason game against the Chiefs, and he took seven snaps: handoff to Adrian Peterson, short pass (incomplete) to Naufahu “12th Man” Tahi, short pass to Percy Harvin, handoff to Adrian Peterson, handoff to Adrian Peterson, short pass (incomplete) to Jaymar Johnson, deep pass (incomplete) to Percy Harvin.

Favre also took a hard shot on one of the pass plays. On Sunday night, he’ll yield to Tarvaris Jackson, who’ll then yield then to Sage Rosenfels.

The game will be televised on NBC, with Al Michaels interviewing Favre at halftime. We’ll also be testing out a new version of the live chat feature on Sunday Night Football Extra, which will incorporate Twitter this year as the tool for asking and answering questions.
