The Chargers have issued the list of inactive players for Sunday’s game against the Raiders.
And perhaps the biggest news is that receiver Malcolm Floyd finally has leapfrogged veteran wideout Chris Chambers in the starting lineup. Floyd has been eating into Chambers’ reps this year.
For the year, Chambers has eight receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown. Floyd has nine receptions for 187 yards and a score.
Chambers is in the final year of his contract, at a salary of $4.55 million. It’s pretty safe to say that, barring a dramatically reduced pay rate, he won’t be back in 2010.
Floyd is also due to be a free agent in 2010.
The inactive for the Chargers are quarterback Charlie Whitehurst (third quarterback), cornerback Dante Hughes, safety C.J. Spillman, center Nick Hardwick, center Tyronne Green, receiver Buster Davis, defensive tackle Vaughn Martin, and linebacker Kevin Burnett.
The Raiders’ inactives are quarterback Charlie Frye (third quarterback), running back Darren McFadden, linebacker Ricky Brown, tackle Cornell Green, guard Robert Gallery, receiver Chaz Schillens, tight end Tony Stewart, and receiver Nick Miller.
