It seems like the report that Texans running back Arian Foster is “likely” to undergo heart surgery to deal with his irregular heartbeat was a little premature.
Foster was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show Friday and took a moment to address the report from Alex Flanagan of the NFL Network. Foster said that surgery is a possibility to help correct the issue, which forced him out of the team’s loss to the Vikings in December, but that he hasn’t spoken to any doctor yet about the specifics of an operation. Foster also downplayed the seriousness of the issue.
“Nothing is life threatening,” Foster said. “It’s a scary nuisance.”
Texans General Manager Rick Smith said that the team’s doctors don’t believe Foster needs an operation. The running back’s answers on Friday suggest that he is still weighing the options available to him, which is obviously the wisest course of action when dealing with something as significant as heart surgery. For now, though, it appears to be too early to say what decision Foster will wind up making.
