The Giants’ beleaguered secondary got another dose of bad news Tuesday.

Reserve cornerback Brian Witherspoon will miss the season with a torn ACL, according to Witherspoon’s Twitter account. We knew Witherspoon was hurt Monday night, but it was believed to be just a sprain.

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger writes Witherspoon was outstanding on special teams and was enjoying a strong camp at cornerback. He was locked into a roster spot, with a possible decent role on the defense considering the injuries in front of him.

The Giants will work out some veteran cornerbacks on Tuesday to help fill out the team. The Giants have now lost three cornerbacks (Terrell Thomas, Bruce Johnson, and Withspoon) for the season. First-round Prince Amukamara is out until October.
