The NFL made extra points harder this offseason, and Texans kicker Randy Bullock will go down as the first to miss the longer extra point.
After the Texans scored a touchdown to cut the deficit to 14-6 in the second quarter against the Chiefs, Bullock took the field and promptly missed his extra point attempt, wide right.
Last year NFL kickers made more than 99 percent of their extra points, but with kicks 13 yards longer this season, the accuracy rate is expected to decline to more like the 97 percent range. That’s a minor difference, but it might be just enough to convince coaches to go for two more often.
The Texans are now wishing they had gone for two.
