As we gradually expand the PFT media footprint, we need to find some places to plant our feet.
Here’s an idea for the fledging PFT Instagram page: The Old School Bubble Gum Machine Helmet of the Day award.
On most days, I’ll post a photo of an old-school helmet that I bought in a bubble gum machine back in the 1970s, with an explanation as to why that team is winning the award. A quick inventory shows that I have all teams except the Ravens, Jaguars, and Texans (none of which existed in the 1970s; but somehow along the way I picked up a Panthers helmet), the Raiders, Bears, Colts, Falcons, Chiefs, and Cardinals. (For the Titans, I’ll use the Oilers.)
So check it out every day to see if your favorite team wins the prize, which entails no actual prize. Meanwhile, I’m heading to eBay or etsy or wherever to find the old-school bubble gum machine helmets from the 1970s that I’ve either lost or never had. Hopefully they’ll arrive in that transparent egg that was damn near impossible to break.
