Throughout the offseason, training camp, and the preseason, NFL teams have no obligation to say anything about player injuries. Starting today and every week until elimination from contention for the Super Bowl, for two teams, through the Super Bowl, they do.

The first injury report of the 2016 season arrived Monday, for Thursday night’s game between the Panthers and Broncos. The good news for both teams is that there are few red flags.

For the Panthers, three players are listed; each practiced on a limited basis. Defensive tackle Vernon Butler has a hand injury, linebacker A.J. Klein has a back injury, and safety Dean Marlowe has a hamstring injury.

Two Broncos didn’t practice: receiver Bennie Fowler (elbow) and tight end Jeff Heuerman (ankle). Two others were limited: center James Ferentz (knee) and tackle Ty Sambrailo (elbow).

Running back Kapri Bibbs (quadricep), guard Max Garcia (groin), linebacker DeMarcus Ware (back), tackle Darrion Weems (concussion), and defensive end Billy Winn (back) all participated fully in practice.

A similar report will be issued on Tuesday. Come Wednesday, the new label system will be used for the first time, with probable gone and questionable, doubtful, and out the only available selections.
