The Falcons won’t be getting their leading receiver at tight end back on the field this season.
Jacob Tamme has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury and announced on Twitter that he had season-ending surgery to repair the problem on Thursday morning.
“I love our team so this situation brings great disappointment,” Tamme wrote. “But this is my 1st surgery in 9yrs. I feel very blessed.”
Tamme is in his second season with the Falcons and had 22 catches for 210 yards and three touchdowns before being injured. He is set to become a free agent after the season.
Austin Hooper, Levine Toilolo and Joshua Perkins are the other tight ends on Atlanta’s active roster. They have 22 catches between them this season.
