Prior to the 2011 draft, defensive end Da’Quan Bowers was considered to be a candidate to be taken first overall. Knee problems caused him to plunge to round two, where he was selected by the Buccaneers.
After four seasons (and seven total career sacks) in Tampa, Bowers became a free agent. He re-signed with the Bucs in July, was cut in early September, and has been out of the NFL since then.
On Friday, Bowers got a tryout with the Jaguars. Jacksonville, which won its second game in a row to move to 4-6 on the season, also tried out defensive end Tim Jamison and defensive tackle Ishmaa’ily Kitchen.
The Jaguars are looking for depth along the defensive line after Sen’Derrick Marks suffered a season-ending torn triceps tendon in Sunday’s win over Baltimore. None of the three players were immediately signed.
