Jairus Byrd makes his debut

As Buffalo first-round selection Aaron Maybin continues to miss training camp due to the absence of a rookie contract, second-round choice Jairus Byrd finally has hit the field, after missing more than three weeks with a groin injury.

On Monday, Byrd was activated from the Non-Football Injury list, and he practiced for the first time as an official member of an NFL team.

“It really feels good to get out here and work up a sweat and be around the guys,” Byrd said after practice on Monday night, in comments circulated by the team.

“I feel like I’m behind just because of the time I’ve missed, but like I said I’m here now, ready to roll and jumping in the mix.”

Byrd had been sidelined with a groin injury.
