Jalen Hurts was lit up by an illegal hit by Bears linebacker D’Marco Jackson. The Eagles quarterback got up before officials called a medical timeout and appeared fine, jogging toward the huddle.
But the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant called for a concussion check for Hurts.
Andy Dalton replaced Hurts for four plays, the last of which was an interception he threw to Dillon Thieneman in the end zone.
Hurts had one foot out of bounds when Jackson blasted him, sending Hurts airborne into the sideline.
The 15-yard penalty on Jackson was offset by a holding penalty on right tackle Lane Johnson.
Hurts appeared to be upset with the consultant as he came out of the sideline medical tent.
The Eagles did not call a timeout to try to buy time to get Hurts back in the game. He was cleared shortly after the interception.
The Bears lead 7-0, having failed to score after reaching the 1-yard line. They turned it over on downs, and the Eagles drove down to the Chicago 1 before Dalton’s eventual interception.
