The Packers are moving closer to getting one of their injured running backs back in the lineup.
James Starks is set to practice on Thursday for the first time since he had knee surgery on October 16. Starks has missed the last three games as a result of the injury and the Packers subsequently lost running back Eddie Lacy to ankle surgery, which has left them to scramble for backfield help.
Coach Mike McCarthy said that Starks will be a limited participant in practice and that it’s unclear whether he’ll play against the Colts.
“We’ll see how it goes,” McCarthy said, via the team’s website.
The Packers have used wide receivers Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb as running backs due to the injuries, although both were out against the Falcons last week. They returned to practice on Wednesday, so it appears McCarthy will have more options this weekend with or without Starks.
