Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has been raising plenty of money for wounded warriors via an unconventional golf tournament. On Friday night, he generated a large chunk of what he calls cashish through more traditional means.

The First Annual Jared Allen “Helping Heroes Gala” was held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis, and the event raised nearly $300,000 via ticket sales and a silent auction.

“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out on Friday and made the event an incredible success,” Allen said. “The support I received from my teammates and the Vikings organization was remarkable and I cannot say thank you enough. I hope that next year is even more successful. I intend to continue this event for many years to come so that we can provide more homes for our wounded warriors.”

Homes for Wounded Warriors is a non-profit organization created for the sole purpose of raising money to build or modify the homes of America’s injured Military Veterans. You can make a donation or buy a T-shirt at Allen’s website.

You can and you will.
