Two years ago, the Denver Broncos signed defensive end-outside linebacker Jarvis Moss to a five-year, $15 million contract that included $8 million in guaranteed money.
The return on their investment has been quite modest, though.
In two NFL seasons, the 6'6", 265-pound former University of Florida standout has recorded just 24 tackles and 3.5 sacks. He has only started one game.
And Moss’ roster status is reportedly tenuous as a former Mike Shanahan draft pick who hasn’t lived up to expectations.
According to FOXSports.com, Moss has been practicing at outside linebacker. However, he hasn’t been working much with the first-string or the second-string defense during offseason minicamps.
Before the NFL Draft, the Broncos attempted to trade Moss for a seventh-round draft pick, according to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com.
The Broncos drafted University of Tennessee hybrid pass rusher Robert Ayers in the first round and could cut ties with Moss at some point if he doesn’t have a strong training camp.
The former No. 17 overall draft pick is due a $660,000 base salary this season.
