As Florio mentioned this morning, the big guns on the owner’s side are arriving on Thursday for perhaps the most crucial day of labor negotiations yet.

The NFLPA is bringing back one of their most talked-about hired guns as well.

NFLPA outside counsel Jeffrey Kessler is back in the building Thursday, according to multiple reports coming from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service

Kessler, seen as a divisive presence by some owners, was kept on the bench for the first three days of the week.

Here’s what Florio wrote on Kessler Wednesday: “We think that the union is keeping him in town so that the league will worry that, if progress isn’t made, Kessler could show up.”

Well, progress hasn’t been made. It’s time to put any remaining cards on the table.
