The Jets announced the signing of offensive tackle Luke Marquardt Wednesday.

Marquardt broke into the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the 49ers in 2014 and spent that season on the team’s non-football injury list. He battled a foot injury in college and then again with the 49ers.

Marquardt played 30 college games at Azusa Pacific. He’s listed at 6-foot-6 and thought he’d be a college basketball player before transitioning to football, first as a tight end and then as a tackle.

The Jets added Ryan Clady earlier this month to play left tackle following the retirement of D’Brickashaw Ferguson. Marquardt figures to get some practice snaps and be evaluated as a developmental prospect.
