Jets add K Blake Grupe, LB Trevin Wallace off of waivers

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that the team would evaluate kicking options after Jason Sanders missed two kicks in their final preseason game and it appears that they’ve decided to make a change.

The NFL’s transaction report on Monday afternoon shows that they have claimed Blake Grupe off of waivers from the Colts. The Jets have not announced any corresponding move, but they’re unlikely to carry two kickers on their 53-man roster.

Grupe opened last season with the Saints, but was released after 11 games and moved on to kick for Indianapolis in five games. He was 29-of-37 on field goals and 25-of-25 on extra points across the two stops.

The Jets also claimed linebacker Trevin Wallace. Wallace was a 2024 third-round pick by the Panthers and he had 125 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery during his time in Carolina.
