When we passed along word that Aaron Maybin “made” the Jets on Saturday, we noted that it may not be for long. It lasted until Sunday.

The Jets announced Sunday they waived Maybin, defensive tackle Martin Tevaseu and cornerback Isaiah Truant. They also placed rookie quarterback Greg McElroy on injured reserve with a thumb injury.

To replace McElroy, they claimed Kevin O’Connell off waivers from Miami. The team defensive back Andrew Sendejo (DAL), offensive lineman Colin Baxter (SD) and wideout Mardy Gilyard (STL).

Gilyard gives the team another return option. We’ll have to see if another team gives Maybin a chance.
