Hall of Fame running back James Brown has sounded off regarding 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree, who remains unsigned as of October 1.
“Mr. Crabtree, get your butt in camp,” Brown said in an interview on Sirius XM radio (via the San Jose Mercury News).
“You’re going to lose a year of playing football to try to get more money than you can get this year, which you’ll never make up? And you don’t realize that your legacy will be based upon how you perform, not how much money you made?”
Brown is right.
But Brown also should be careful when talking about players who are the property of other teams. Brown, after all, is a member of management with the Cleveland Browns.
In this specific case, however, the 49ers likely won’t complain.
