Johnny Lynn lands in Oakland a month after firing in Philadelphia

J. Lynnphi

Although most Eagles fans were hoping it would be Juan Castillo, cornerbacks coach Johnny Lynn was the assistant who took the fall for Philadelphia’s disappointing defense in 2011. Now, a month later, Lynn has landed in Oakland.

Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reports that that Lynn will join the Raiders as a defensive backs coach. Prior to joining the Eagles’ staff Lynn had previously been a secondary coach in San Francisco, Baltimore and Tampa Bay and spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator of the Giants.

Also joining Dennis Allen’s staff in Oakland will be Mark Hutson, who spent the last five seasons as Tulane’s offensive line coach and was the school’s interim head coach at the end of last season. Hutson was an All-American offensive lineman for the Oklahoma Sooners and has spent 22 years as a college coach, including a couple of seasons on the same Tulsa staff as Allen. This will be Hutson’s first NFL job.

Former Rams defensive backs coach Clayton Lopez may also join the Raiders’ staff. If he does it will be his second time on the job; he coached the Raiders’ defensive backs in 2004 and 2005.
