Former NFL offensive tackle Jon Runyan is running for Congress. Looking noticeably smaller than he did when wearing a pro football uniform, Runyan appeared on FOX & Friends earlier today. (The video was passed along by HuggingHaroldReynolds.com.)
And, fortunately, he refrained from paying homage to Ernest Borgnine by whispering secrets that are best kept secret into Steve Doocy’s ear.
Runyan talked about his reputation as a “dirty player” in the NFL, a label he believes was unjustified. But he says that the same things that created the perception of dirty play could apply in his new industry.
“I’m gonna play the way this is supposed to be played, not the way everybody else is playing it. That’s how you get that label,” Runyan said.
Though it’s possibly the reason for the attachment of that label in Runyan’s case, guys also get called “dirty players” for being “dirty players.”
Either way, there’s definitely an overlap between football and politics in this regard. Both can be very dirty businesses, regardless of party affiliation or ideology or any other factor.
