The Patriots activated wide receiver Julian Edelman from the physically unable to perform list on Monday, but he may be headed back to the injured list.
Tom Curran of CSN New England reports that Edelman walked off the field “with disgust” and threw his helmet away before sitting on a cart to be examined by a trainer. Curran said that Edelman’s lower left leg was the area of concern for the medical staff.
Edelman was on the PUP list to open camp because he had a second surgery on his left foot this offseason after breaking it and having surgery during the 2015 season. Edelman returned for the playoffs after missing most of the second half of the year.
There’s no word about the severity of the injury as Patriots practice is still going without Edelman, but it’s certainly not a great development given Edelman’s recent history.
