Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen won’t be leaving San Diego any time soon.
Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Allen and the Chargers have agreed to a contract extension through the 2020 season. A 2013 third-round pick, Allen had been heading into the final year of his rookie contract and would have made $1.7 million this season on that deal.
The report says the deal is worth more than $11 million a season, but there’s no word on how much of that money is guaranteed or how the contract is structured.
Allen burst onto the scene with a 1,046-yard season as a rookie. Last year Allen was off to an outstanding start, catching 67 passes for 725 yards in less than half a season before suffering a season-ending kidney laceration in Week Eight. If Allen can play that well this season and stay healthy for 16 games, he’ll be worth every penny.
