Kerrigan optimistic about D.C. defense

Kerrigan

With so much focus on the question of whether Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will get, and stay, healthy, it’s easy to forget about the other side of the ball.

That could be harder to do once the games start.

Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan believes the defense will play much more like it did down the stretch than it did early in the 2012 season.

“That’s what’s exciting about this season, because we had so many injuries on defense, and you kind of saw us figure it out in the second half of the season, but we need to be able to put that together for 16 games,” Kerrigan tells the Muncie (Ind.) Star Press. “That’ll be exciting, if we can.”

It’ll definitely be exciting for Kerrigan if linebacker Brian Orakpo comes back at 100 percent after missing all of the 2012 season. In today’s one-liners, Alper linked to a blurb on the team’s official site looking at the potential impact of a healthy Orakpo on the production of Kerrigan, who made it to the Pro Bowl in 2012.

It’s easy to understand why Kerrigan would be excited. And it’s easy to like Kerrigan after reading about his humility and dedication to his team.
