Kerwynn Williams arrives as Cardinals lose Andre Ellington for season

Kansas City Chiefs v Arizona Cardinals

Kansas City Chiefs v Arizona Cardinals

Word on Sunday morning was that Cardinals running back Andre Ellington’s season might be over and coach Bruce Arians confirmed it after his team ended their two-game losing streak by edging the Chiefs 17-14 at home.

Arians said that Ellington will miss the rest of the season after having sports hernia surgery in Philadelphia this week. It’s the latest season-ending injury in a series of them for the Cardinals, whose year-long struggles in the run game brightened a bit on Sunday despite the bad news about Ellington.

Kerwynn Williams ran for 100 yards on the first 19 carries of his NFL career as the Cardinals rolled up a season-high 141 yards on the ground. Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald called it “storybook stuff” and detail about his daily eating habits certainly adds to the fairy tale.

“I have a Ker-wich every day,” Williams said, via the team’s website. “PB and J. Four stacks. Two peanut butter, two jelly, stack ’em on top of each other. Have the milk, gotta dip it in milk too.”

The Cardinals probably won’t find the same kind of running room against their NFC West foes that they found against a Chiefs defense that has been abysmal against the run for some time now, but that’s a problem for Arians and company to figure out as they move forward with 10 wins under their belt.
