The coaches have spoken regarding the Competition Committee’s proposed changes to the kickoff rules. And the NFL is listening.

The proposed changes are in the process of, um, possibly changing. Stephen Jones revealed Monday afternoon that newly proposed changes will be considered overnight, according to SI’s Don Banks.

Banks says, for instance, that the league may leave touchbacks at the 20-yard line. It’s also possible the kickoff rules will be left alone entirely in the end, but the committee’s proposal will be changing.

Competition Committee chairman Rich McKay is expected to brief the media at 6 p.m. ET for some clarification.

UPDATE: McKay didn’t provide much of an update beyond Banks’ original reporting. Basically, there will be a vote on some sort of tweaked kickoff proposal on Tuesday. Discussions will continue Monday night and Tuesday morning.
