The Redskins have one of their rookie quarterbacks in the fold.
Kirk Cousins, the fourth-round draft pick who was selected to be the backup to first-round draft pick Robert Griffin III, has signed his contract. In case you want to see him holding a pen while sitting over some papers, the Redskins tweeted a picture of him signing.
It’s the standard four-year deal, and his draft slot pegs the total value of the contract at about $2.6 million.
Cousins was placed in a rare position when the Redskins drafted him, as he was selected solely to be a backup for the Redskins, who have already declared Griffin their starter from Day One and, they think, for many years to come. Cousins’ attitude is that if he’s good he’ll get an opportunity to play, but that opportunity probably won’t happen with the team that drafted him and has now signed him.
