For the first time since he signed with the Broncos, Peyton Manning will miss a game on Sunday.
Broncos coach Gary Kubiak confirmed today that Brock Osweiler will start in place of Manning this week in Chicago.
“Peyton is not going to play. Brock is going to play this week,” Kubiak said.
Third-string quarterback Trevor Siemian will move up to No. 2 on the depth chart this week, and Manning will be inactive on Sunday. But Kubiak did indicate that the Broncos are committed to playing Manning once his injured foot heals.
“All the attention is toward getting [Manning] healthy,” Kubiak said.
So how long will that take? Will Manning be ready to go the following week for the showdown with the Patriots? That’s not clear yet. All that is clear is that for this week, Manning needs some time off.
