49ers kicker Eddy Pineiro missed another extra point on Monday night. Coach Kyle Shanahan was not happy about it.
Pineiro has been one of the worst kickers in the NFL this season, missing three extra points and three field goals, and Shanahan said after Monday night’s win over the Commanders that it can’t go on this way.
“Yeah, he’s got to make them,” Shanahan said. “He missed another one today. Fortunately it didn’t get us, but I think everyone knows the answer to that, you’ve got to make your extra points.”
Pineiro has a long history of not making his extra points: Over the last five seasons, he has missed 14 extra point attempts, the most of any kicker in the NFL, and among the 30 kickers who have attempted at least 75 extra points over the last five years, Pineiro has the lowest percentage of made kicks. If Pineiro keeps missing his job may not be safe.
