Ladarius Green: Steelers’ passionate fans a big part of why I signed

Last season, Ladarius Green was playing tight end for the Chargers in a game against the Steelers, and the Pittsburgh fans were so loud that he couldn’t hear the offensive signals being called.

And the game was in San Diego.

Green was amazed that the Steelers have such a passionate fan base that tens of thousands of them would travel to San Diego and make so much noise that it felt like a Steelers home game. That stuck with Green when he became a free agent, and he said it’s part of why he signed with the Steelers this week.

“Did I notice?” Green said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I think everyone noticed the number of Steelers fans out there. When you saw the towels in there it was pretty bad for us because we had to go on silent count. We knew they were there. . . . You want to be around that kind of stuff. It was a pretty big point in coming.”

Now Green can hear those Pittsburgh fans cheer for him.
