Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley has been fined $12,500 for a roughing the passer penalty against Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on Sunday night.
The hit was one of the few times the Steelers managed to get to Brady, who said after the game that his offensive line had done a nearly perfect job of keeping him upright at Pittsburgh.
Patriots running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis, however, went too far with one chop block and was fined $5,000. Green-Ellis drew a 15-yard penalty on the play.
There will apparently not be any fines forthcoming for the hit that knocked Steelers receiver Hines Ward out of the same game. Ward indicated that he thought Patriots safety Patrick Chung should be fined, but it was actually James Sanders who appeared to deliver the blow that hurt Ward. It appears that the NFL has decided it was a legal hit and neither one of them will get fined.
