Lance Moore scheduled to visit Steelers

Wide receiver Lance Moore’s long run with the Saints came to an end when the team released him just before the start of free agency to create cap space.

Had Moore turned in a better 2013 season, the Saints may have found themselves with a tougher decision. Moore had just 37 catches for 457 yards, though, and the Saints found other receivers that were more productive to fill out the lineup.

With Emmanuel Sanders gone to Denver and Jerricho Cotchery looking for work with other teams, the Steelers may not be quite as well stocked for the 2014 season. That explains why they’re bringing Moore in for his first reported visit since parting ways with the Saints.

Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports reports that Moore will visit with the Steelers on Tuesday. Antonio Brown makes a fine leader for the receiving corps, but there are just eight other 2013 catches among wide receivers that will definitely return to the team. That could make Moore’s experience an appealing trait for the Steelers whether or not they lose Cotchery to free agency.
