If I told you that Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had 267 yards and receiver Calvin Johnson had 163 yards, you’d say it sounds like they had a pretty good game.

Now how about if I tell you that’s what they did just in the second quarter today in Pittsburgh?

Indeed, those were the second quarter totals of Stafford and Megatron, who shredded Pittsburgh’s secondary. At the start of the second quarter, the Steelers had a 14-0 lead. By halftime, the Lions were up 27-20.

It’s still a close game, and Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and receiver Antonio Brown are having good games, too. With the way the Lions’ secondary is playing, this game is far from a sure thing for Detroit.

Which means Stafford will probably be throwing quite a bit to Johnson in the second half as well.
