Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis was a hive of football activity recently while the NFL scouting combine was going on, but activity of a different sort has the facility on lockdown on Tuesday.
WTHR in Indianapolis reports that the Indianapolis Metro Police bomb squad is investigating reports of a suspicious vehicle at the U.S. Post Office location adjacent to the stadium. As a result, the stadium itself is on lockdown as the police sort out what’s going on next door.
Two business events are scheduled for the stadium on Tuesday with expected attendance of about 400 people.
There aren’t many other details available at this time as the investigation into the vehicle continues. We’ll pass along any other updates concerning the activity around the home of the Colts, which is thankfully a lot less busy than it has been in the last few days.
UPDATE 2:59 p.m. ET: The lockdown has been lifted. Per WTHR, Indianapolis Metro Police tried to speak to a man who was in the vehicle and then pursued him when he fled on foot. They now have a suspect in custody.
