After taking his turn auditioning for the Buccaneers yesterday, Marcus Mariota will spend tonight in the place where he’ll more likely end up.
Or at least in the place where the team owns the draft slot he’ll likely end up being taken in.
Via Albert Breer of NFL Media, Mariota will fly to Nashville tonight, and spend tomorrow meeting with Titans officials.
We’re more than three weeks out from the 2015 NFL Draft starting, giving plenty of time for smokescreens and downright lies. And the Titans have done their part to muddy the waters, bringing in a number of pass-rushers, and also defensive tackle Leonard Williams.
But the longer it goes, the more logical it seems that the Titans will either draft Mariota for themselves, or pawn off the pick to someone who wants Mariota for themselves. With other teams beginning at No. 5 who clearly would be interested in the Oregon quarterback, it simply makes sense for someone wanting him to deal with the Titans.
So perhaps this visit will be when the Titans decide whether they want to keep Mariota for themselves, or auction him off to the highest bidder.
