Marshawn Lynch ditched gold shoes, but may rankle league for other things

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch didn’t wear gold cleats on Sunday against the Packers, avoiding discipline from the league for wearing shoes that weren’t permitted under their uniform guidelines.

Lynch didn’t get through the day without doing a couple of things that may rankle the league, however. Lynch was fined for failing to speak to the media and for grabbing his crotch after a touchdown run during the 2014 season and he could have opened the door to further fines on both fronts during the game.

Lynch didn’t leap in the air and turn back to the field this time, but there was another crotch grab after his fourth quarter touchdown run that could earn the ire of the league. Even if it doesn’t, Lynch’s avoidance of the media after the game probably will and there will probably be another round of “Will Lynch speak” once Super Bowl media day rolls around next week.

It’s a pretty constant loop at this point and one that the Seahawks are obviously fine with riding. Watching Lynch run for 157 yards and score go-ahead touchdowns in the fourth quarter of games that the Seahawks have to win to keep their title hopes alive makes it easy to understand why they feel that way.
