McCalebb is fastest RB this year, Chris Johnson still fastest ever

ChrisJohnson

Auburn’s Onterio McCalebb is the fastest running back at this year’s Scouting Combine, but Chris Johnson is still the record holder for the fastest 40-yard dash in Combine history.

McCalebb, who ran a 40 in an unofficial time of 4.21 seconds, wasn’t quite so fast when the official times came out: McCalebb’s official time was 4.34 seconds, a full tenth of a second off Johnson’s Combine record of 4.24 seconds.

Still, McCalebb has the best straight-line speed of any running back in this year’s class, and the only other running back who was even close is Knile Davis of Arkansas, who ran his 40 in 4.37 seconds.

After McCalebb and Davis, the next-fastest 40 times were turned in by Utah State’s Kerwynn Williams (4.48 seconds), UCLA’s Johnathan Franklin (4.49 seconds) and LSU’s Michael Ford (4.50 seconds.)
