Mularkey: Lewan didn’t have surgery, shoulder in good shape

Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan’s injured shoulder did not require offseason surgery, Titans coach Mike Mularkey told reporters Monday, and the Titans are proceeding as if Lewan will be healthy for the 2016 season.

Lewan got a public vote of confidence from new Titans general manager Jon Robinson last week. More important than Robinson’s words, though, were his actions in trading out of the No. 1 pick. Robinson has said Lewan will remain as the team’s left tackle until he’s beaten out.

Before the trade, some thought the Titans would select Laremy Tunsil with the No. 1 pick and shift Lewan to right tackle.

Though Lewan sat out portions of some games last season due to a nerve issue in his shoulder, he didn’t miss a game until the season finale. Lewan played in 11 games, starting six, as a rookie in 2014.
