NFL bringing back former players to announce picks

As the NFL Draft transitions from likely contributors in the first round to more hit-and-miss selections in the second, the league is bringing in some known commodities.

For the fourth year, the NFL is bringing in former players from each team to announce second-round picks.

Five members of this year’s Hall of Fame class, and 11 Hall-of-Famers total, will take the stage to announce picks during the NFL Draft.

Former Cardinals cornerback Aeneas Williams, Falcons defensive end Claude Humphrey, Bills wide receiver Andre Reed, Seahawks tackle Walter Jones and Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks will be among the group, after earning their ticket to Canton earlier this year.

Other Hall of Famers to announce selections include Bears linebacker Mike Singletary, Packers wide receiver James Lofton, Chiefs defensive tackle Curley Culp, Dolphins guard Larry Little, Giants linebacker Harry Carson and Raiders cornerback Willie Brown.

While not every team has a Hall-of-Famer in the group, there were surely be some crowd reactions to the players involved, such as former Jets quarterback Chad Pennington.
